CONSERVATION

PRESERVING NATURAL SPACES
FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS

The Hathaway Family Foundation believes that access to nature is essential for healthy communities. Our work centers on activating conserved land for public benefit by supporting trails, trailheads, outdoor amenities, and recreational access that connect people to protected spaces. We invest in projects that turn conserved land into meaningful community assets.

Our Approach

We support initiatives that activate conserved land for public benefit, including improving trails and access, restoring habitats for public enjoyment, and investing in outdoor infrastructure that connects communities to protected spaces.

Trail Development and Expansion

Trails connect people to nature and each other. Our grants support the creation and expansion of trails that encourage outdoor exploration, promote healthy lifestyles, and foster environmental appreciation.

Outdoor Access Infrastructure

We support the development of outdoor infrastructure that makes conserved land more usable and accessible, including trailheads, parking areas, signage, pavilions, boat access points, and other amenities that remove barriers to public use.
